Adding Lessons

Instructors can add lessons with the following steps:

  • Add the Training Material to a Course
  • Link the Training Material to the Schoolhouse Content
  • Make Training Material available to others

Add the Training Material to a Course

1) Choose to create a new course, or edit an existing course

2) For New Course it should be of Type "E-Learning

3) Choose Training Material for the new or existing course

4) Choose "Add Training Material" and select xAPI from the list


4) Select "From URL"

5) Select the disti.training URL from the list

6) Enter the Title and Description for the Lesson you are going to link.  Be specific.

7) When complete, Choose Save Changes

8) Observe that the new material is show in the course.

The material has been connected to Schoolhouse, but has not yet been linked to the specific content.


Link the Training Material to the Schoolhouse Content

1) Now we will connect the content by launching it as an authorized Instructor.  Switch to the Learner View.

2) Observe that the training material is available, then select it.

3) The schoolhouse Lesson Linking page will appear

Note that if DiSTI has not provided permissions to this instructor (or student), they will instead see this message.

4) At each step, select the options to satisfy the described lesson.  Select the content from the list, and press Continue

5) Select the lesson, and press Continue.

6) Select the Deployments that will be available to the student.  

Note that certain combinations may not be possible, and the UI will enforce that.

7) Select the Training Type, and press Review

8) Review the Content Details to make sure it is what you intended.  Press the back arrow to make any changes.

9) When satisfied, press the Perform Link button

10) If successful, a "Successful linkage" message will appear.

11) If desired, clicking the Test Lesson button will launch the newly linked lesson as if you were a student.

Make Training Material available to others

1) If all is connected, and ready for students, make it available by browsing to the course properties, and modifying the Status

New courses will start in the "Under Maintenance" status.

Click it and change it to "Published", then Save Changes.

Now the course with the new training material will be available to enroll students.

Enroll users as usual.
